2016 in full bloom: La Fleur takes a rare retrospective moment to reflect on how much she’s achieved since emerging in 2010.

‘Flowerhead’ is where it all began for the perennially on-point Swede-in-Berlin. The original jacked in from the left with filtered finesse over six years ago, setting up her stall with confidence and winning premium positioning in the sets of house luminaries such as Axel Boman, Ian Pooley, Kerri Chandler and more.
Six years later, during a year in which she’s dented dancefloors via serial dispatches on the likes of Watergate, Madhouse, Cocoon and her own Powerplant imprint and been cited as one of B.Traits’ Future 12 on BBC Radio 1, La Fleur returns to the source with three precision reversions.
Cassy takes the lead with a robust tech groove that morphs with a lava-like flow and a wry sense of cosmic charm to the mutating bass modulations. Dana Ruh follows with an equally creative twist on the original. Retaining the chords but swapping out the hook for a silky synth texture over a perfectly relentless jacking drum arrangement, it’s yet another quintessential deep house gem from the Brouqade bossgirl.
Finally, La Fleur closes the show with her own update. Massaging the drums and low end to fix our emphasis on the overall groove, it’s a fitting futureproofing that’s instantly distinctive from its foundation Orbitalesque synth hook. Revitalising her entry theme with subtlety and soul, it’s the perfect reflection of both La Fleur’s deep roots and her evergreen heights. Expect plenty more Power Plant growth very very soon…
